[edit]Learned borrowing from Classical Sanskrit चकित (cakita, “trembling; (by extension) frightened, startled, shocked”). By surface analysis, چَکْ (cak, stem of چَکْنا (caknā, “to be surprised, bewildered or amazed”)) + ـِت (-it, “-ed”).
