چپاقچور

From Wiktionary, the free dictionary

Ottoman Turkish

[edit]
Çapakçur province, now Bingöl province

Etymology

[edit]

Borrowed from Armenian Ճապաղջուր (Čapaġǰur), from Old Armenian Ճապաղջուր (Čapałǰur), from ճապաղ (čapał, spread) +‎ ջուր (ǰur, water). In 1944 the settlement was renamed Bingöl, from bin (thousand) + göl (lake); however, the province is not rich in lakes, but rather in small tarns scattered around the city.
