[edit]Vulgarized form of Persian چپ راست (čap-râst, “left–right; diagonal, crossed”), from چپ (čap, “left”) + راست (râst, “right”).

- clasp, a fastener or holder made of metal, particularly one that clasps
- belt fastening with a metal clasp, formerly used by certain of the janissaries
- frog, a fastener for clothing consisting of an oblong button that fits through a loop
- (by extension) kind of waistcoat or jacket adorned with frogs or similar fasteners
- (in general) any pair of things that join after the manner of clasps or frogs
- (in board games) square of a chessboard; table on a backgammon board
