[edit]Inherited from Middle Persian pyšk' (pēšag, “trade, craft; guild”), from Proto-Iranian *pais- (“to adorn, paint, write”), from Proto-Indo-European *peyḱ- (“to mark, paint; spot, color”).[1][2]
