Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀧𑀇𑀚𑁆𑀚𑀸 (païjjā), from Sanskrit प्रतिज्ञा (pratijñā). Doublet of پرتِگّیا (pratigyā). Cognate with Marathi पैज (paij).
