Inherited from Middle Hindi پهاٿک (phaṭk /⁠phāṭak⁠/), from Sanskrit *फाट्टक्क (phāṭṭakka), compound of *प्रहट्ट (prahaṭṭa) +‎ हट्ट (haṭṭa).^[1]
