Etymology

From نشان (nişan, “sign, mark, target”) +‎ ـلانمق (-lanmak, suffix forming passive infinitives from stems ending in back vowels).

Verb

نشانلانمق • (nişanlanmak)

1. (intransitive) to become a sign, mark, target, etc.
2. (intransitive) to become possessed with some mark or token
3. (intransitive) to betroth, to promise to take as a future spouse
