Etymology
[edit]Ultimately from Classical Persian بیشه (bēša, “forest”), with a change of initial consonant /b/ > /m/ found also in other words, such as مقره (makara, “pulley”), منكشه (menekşe, “violet”), or منتشه (menteşe, “hinge”).
