[edit]Borrowed from Arabic مَصْطَبَة (maṣṭaba, “bench, estrade, mastaba”), from Aramaic מצטבתא (maṣṭaḇṯā), a derivation from Aramaic מצב (meṣb, “stele; a stone slab”).
