[edit]Borrowed from Aramaic מֹורִיקָא (mōrīqā) / ܡܽܘܪܻܝܩܳܐ (mūrīqā, “safflower”), from the root י־ר־ק (y-r-q) that corresponds to Arabic و ر ق (w-r-q) related to yellow or green colours, compare يَرَقَان (yaraqān) and Proto-Semitic *waraq-.
