Inherited from Proto-Turkic *kȫrük (bellows); cognate with Azerbaijani körük, Bashkir күрек (kürek), Kyrgyz көөрүк (köörük), Nogai коьрик (körik), Southern Altai кӧрӱк (körük) and Yakut күөрт (küört).
