Etymology
[edit]From the earlier form قولب (kulb), from Arabic قُلْب (qulb, “bracelet, bangle”), itself from Classical Syriac ܩܘܠܒܐ (qulbā, “bracelet”), perhaps from Akkadian 𒄑𒆪𒌌𒁍 (GIŠqu3-ul-pu /qulpu/, “encasement, bark of wood”).
