Etymology

Inherited from Proto-Turkic *kạŕï- (to scratch, scrape, curry),[1] a root which is probably related to Proto-Mongolic *kïsu- (to scrape), whence Mongolian хусах (xusax).

قازیمق (kazımak) (third-person singular aorist قازیر (kazır))

  1. (transitive) to scratch, scrape, to mark a surface with a sharp object, like fingernails, leaving a scratch
    Synonyms: چیزمك (çizmek), طرمالامق (tırmalamak)
  2. (transitive) to erase, delete, cancel, rub out, wipe out, to remove or get rid of written or printed material
    Synonym: سیلمك (silmek)
  3. (transitive) to shave, to make bald or (the hair) shorter using a tool such as a razor or electric clippers
    Synonym: تراش ایتمك (tıraş etmek)
  4. (transitive) to eliminate, eradicate, extirpate, annihilate, to destroy completely, to reduce to nothing
