Borrowed from Arabic فَأْل (faʔl, “good omen”).

فال • (fal) (definite accusative فالی (falı), plural افول (eful))

1. omen, portent, augury, something which portends or is perceived to portend either a good or evil event or circumstance in the future

   Synonym: اوغور (uğur)

2. fortune-telling, divination, the act or practise of predicting the future, prediction of future events, especially those of a personal nature

   Synonym: كهانت (kehânet)
