Inherited from Old Anatolian Turkish طَانِشْمَقْ (danışmak, tanışmak), from Proto-Turkic *tanu-. The irregular preservation of the initial /t/ was to distinguish طَانِشْمَقْ (danışmaq, tanışmaq, to meet) from طَانِشْمَقْ (danışmaq, to consult).
