Etymology
[edit]Inherited from Proto-Turkic *sïgïrčïk (“starling”); cognate with Azerbaijani sığırçın, Bashkir сыйырсыҡ (sıyırsıq), Chuvash шӑнкӑрч (šănk̬ărč), Kyrgyz чыйырчык (cıyırcık) and Tatar сыерчык (sıyerçıq).
