Borrowed from Serbo-Croatian šȋndra / ши̑ндра (shingle, batten), from German Schindel (shingle).

شندره (şendere or şindere) (definite accusative شندره‌یی (şendereyi), plural شندره‌لر (şendereler))

  1. shingle, a thin piece of building material for laying in overlapping rows as a covering for the roof
    Synonym: پداوره (pedavra, padavra)
  2. stave, a narrow strip of wood placed edge to edge to form the covering of a barrel or other vessel
