[edit]Borrowed from Serbo-Croatian šȋndra / ши̑ндра (“shingle, batten”), from German Schindel (“shingle”).

[edit]شندره • (şendere or şindere) (definite accusative شندرهیی (şendereyi), plural شندرهلر (şendereler))
- shingle, a thin piece of building material for laying in overlapping rows as a covering for the roof
- Synonym: پداوره (pedavra, padavra)
- stave, a narrow strip of wood placed edge to edge to form the covering of a barrel or other vessel
- striped red mullet, surmullet, any kind of goatfish of the species Mullus surmuletus
