[edit]Inherited from Proto-Turkic *süŋgü (“lance, spear”); cognate with Old Turkic [script needed] (süŋüg), Azerbaijani süngü, Bashkir һөңгө (höñgö), Chuvash сăнă (sănă), Kazakh сүңгі (süñgı), Tatar сөңге (söñge) and Yakut үҥүү (üñüü).
