[edit]Inherited from Prakrit 𑀲𑀺𑀡𑁆𑀡 (siṇṇa), from Sanskrit स्विन्न (svinna), ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *sweyd- (“to sweat”). Cognate with Baluchi ہید (hed), English sweat, Hindi पसीना (pasīnā) / Urdu پسینہ (pasīnā), Persian خوی (xway).
