سليل

Arabic
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Of the root س ل ل (s-l-l). The lexicographers say it means “male foetus”, “horse-foal”, ”any animal that is born with yet the fetal membrane on”; it is hence plausible that this word is an earlier borrowing of the same Aramaic source as assumed for شَلِيل (šalīl), see there.
