    Inherited from Middle Hindi سانس (sans /⁠sā̃s⁠/) (c. 1565),[1] from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀲𑀸𑀲 (sāsa),[2] from Sanskrit श्वास (śvāsá).[3][4]
