From Middle Persian [script needed] (lypʾs /⁠rēbās⁠/, “rhubarb”), from Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (lypʾs /⁠rēbās, rēbāh⁠/), ultimately from Proto-Iranian *(h)rabā́š ~ *(h)rabacáh.
