[edit]Borrowed from Classical Persian ذِکْرِ اِلٰهِی (zikr-i ilāhī), a calque of Arabic ذِكْرِ الله (ḏikri llāh). By surface analysis, ذِکْر (zikr, “mention; remembrance”) + اِلٰہی (ilāhī, “divine”).
