[edit]Inherited from Proto-Turkic *tegnek (“stick, cane”), a development of *teg- (“to reach, achieve, touch”), whence دكمك (değmek, “to reach; to hit, strike”). Cognate with Azerbaijani dəyənək and Turkmen degenek.
