Inherited from Old Anatolian Turkish دَكَرْ (dägär), from Proto-Turkic *teġir (value, worth),[1] a development of *tẹg- (to cost, be worth), whence دكمك (değmek, to be worth). Cognate with Azerbaijani dəyər.
