دَسَّى (dassā) II (non-past يُدَسِّي (yudassī), verbal noun تَدْسِيَة (tadsiya))

  1. (obsolete) The meaning of this term is uncertain. Possibilities include:
    Antonym: زَكَّى (zakkā)
    • 609–632 CE, Qur'an, 91:9-10:
      قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَنْ زَكَّىٰهَا / وَقَدْ خَابَ مَن دَسَّىٰهَا
      qad ʔaflaḥa man zakkāhā / waqad ḵāba man dassāhā
      He has succeeded who purifies it, / And he has failed who instills it
