Akin to Old Armenian խոհ (xoh), an Iranian borrowing.

Particularly: “Perhaps from Proto-Iranian *hṷar (to consume, eat), itself probably etymologically identical to *hṷar (to take)? Further connections outside of Iranian are uncertain; see Cheung for more on the root(s).[1] On the other hand, Horn tentatively connects this to Old Armenian քաղցր (kʻałcʻr).[2]
