  1. something stolen, booty, plunder
    • a. 1374, Ibn al-Khatib, Jadaka al-Ghaithu:
      جَادَكَ ٱلْغَيْثُ إِذَا ٱلْغَيْثُ هَمَا – يَا زَمَانَ ٱلْوَصْلِ بِٱلْأَنْدَلُسِ – لَمْ يَكُنْ وَصْلُكَ إِلَّا حُلُمًا – فِي ٱلْكَرَى أَوْ خُلْسَةَ ٱلْمُخْتَلِسِ
      jādaka l-ḡayṯu ʔiḏā l-ḡayṯu hamā – yā zamāna l-waṣli bi-l-ʔandalusi – lam yakun waṣluka ʔillā ḥuluman – fī l-karā ʔaw ḵulsata l-muḵtalisi
      the rain would befit you if the rain fell – oh the time of reunion in Andalusia – your reunion wasn't but a dream – in the sleep or a surreptitious passing (= something that passes quickly)
