خَفَتَ (ḵafata) I (non-past يَخْفُتُ (yaḵfutu) or يَخْفِتُ (yaḵfitu), verbal noun خُفُوت (ḵufūt) or خَفْت (ḵaft) or خُفَات (ḵufāt))

  1. to die out, to lessen, to diminish, to grow faint, to become low or soft in volume, to become inaudible
  2. to die, to become silent, to not be able to speak any longer, to cease speaking especially one's last words or noises before death
