Etymology

Inherited from Apabhramsa तिहिवार (tihivāra), from Sanskrit *तिथि-वार (tithi-vāra).[1] First attested in c. 1503 as Middle Hindi تیوہار (tyvhar /⁠tiyohār⁠/).[2]
