      Borrowed from Classical Persian تَعْبِیر (ta'bīr), borrowed from Arabic تَعْبِير (taʕbīr), from عَبَّر (ʕabbar).[1][2][3] First attested in c. 1609 as Middle Hindi تعبیر (t'byr /⁠ta'bīr⁠/).[4]
