[edit]Akin to Akkadian 𒁀𒋡𒀀𒇻 (ba-qa-a-lu /baqālu/, “to sprout, malt”) and Ge'ez በቈለ (bäḳʷälä), በቍለ (bäḳʷlä, “to sprout”). ب ق ر (b-q-r) may be distantly related.
