Inherited from Middle Hindi بھنور (bhnvr /bhãvar/) (c. 1658),[1] from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀪𑀫𑀭 (bhamara), from Sanskrit भ्रमर (bhramará, “large black bee; spinning top”).[2]
