Etymology 1

Pronunciation

[edit]

Verb

[edit]

بِيْقَل or بيقل (biygul or biyigul)

  1. second-person masculine singular present continuous of قال
    بِيقل لي إنُّه ما حَيِقْدر يجي
    biygulli innu ma ḥayigdar yiji
He’s telling me that he won’t come
Usage notes
[edit]

Indirect object pronouns (لي, لها, لهم etc.) shorten long vowels when added after hollow present verb forms (e.g قول, شوف, عيد etc.), so the verb يقول (yigūl) becomes يِقُول لك (yigullak) or يِقُل لك (yigullak) depending on the writer.
