[edit]Borrowed from Classical Persian بَفَرْضِ مُحَال (bafarz-i muhāl). By surface analysis, بَ (ba, “in”) + فَرْضِ (farz-i, “example; instance of”) + مُحال (muhāl, “inconceivable; impossible”), literally “in the case of the inconceivable”.
