[edit]Etymology
[edit]From Coptic ⲡⲓⲧⲁⲣⲓⲭⲓⲟⲛ (pitarikhion), from Ancient Greek τάριχος (tárikhos), which has also been borrowed directly as طِرِّيخ (ṭirrīḵ). The alternative forms come from reinterpreting the present form as a broken plural.
