  1. to take
    Synonyms: عبا (ʕabba), خدا (xda), وصّل (wəṣṣəl)
    دّي معاك جوج تفاحات باش تاكلهم ف الطريق.
    ddi mʕak had juj təffaḥat baš takulhum f ttriq
    Take two apples with you to eat on the way.
    راه خوك دّا الطبلة لعند النجار باش تّصلح.
    rah xuk dda ṭṭəbla lʕənd nnəʒʒar baš ttəṣləḥ
    Your brother took the table to the carpenter to get it repaired.
  2. mind, pay attention
    Synonyms: حضى (ḥḍa), هتم (htəmm)
    دّيها ف قرايتك، و خلّي عليك الأفلام والألعاب.
    ddiha f qraytək w xəlli ʕlik lʔaflam w lʔalʕab
    Pay attention to your studies, and stay away from movies and games.
  3. (+على) get worked up over someone's speech or deed (mostly in the negative form)
    Synonym: تقلق (ḥḍa)
    ماتدّيش عليه، راه باقي صغير ومافاهمش الحياة.
    matəddiṣ ʕlih rah baqi sɣir w mafahəmṣ lḥayat
    Don't get upset over it, he's still young and doesn't understand life.
