Etymology

[edit]

From إِنِّي (ʔinnī, Indeed, I am), composed of إِنَّ (ʔinna, an emphasizing sentence particle) +‎ ـنِي (-nī, me). Also often hypothesized to be from Ancient Greek εἶναι (eînai, be, exist).

Pronunciation

[edit]

Noun

[edit]

إِنِّيَّة (ʔinniyyaf (plural إِنِّيَّات (ʔinniyyāt))

  1. (philosophy) ipseity
liʔanna kulla mā lahu ʔanayyatun lahu ḥaqīqatun, fal-ḥaqqu ḍṭirāran mawjūdun ʔiḏani l-ʔanayyātu mawjūdatun
For everything that has ipseity has a verity, and [we know] the truth necessarily exists. Thus ipseities surely exist.
