Usage notes
[edit]Because of its common origin with Hebrew ירושלים, the Arabic أُورُشَلِيم (ʔūrušalīm) is used in official Arabic documents of the Israeli government. It is also used in Christian liturgical Arabic. Outside of these two contexts, the name is seldom used and الْقُدْس (al-quds) is preferred.
