- a ditch, a moat, a canal
- Tanach, 1 Kings 18:35, with translation of the Jewish Publication Society:
- וַיֵּלְכוּ הַמַּיִם סָבִיב לַמִּזְבֵּחַ; וְגַם אֶת־הַתְּעָלָה מִלֵּא־מָיִם.
- vayel'khú hamáyim savív lamizbéakh; vegam et-hate'alá milé-máyim.
