שׁוֹמֵר שַׁבָּת • (shomér shabát) m (plural indefinite שׁוֹמְרֵי שַׁבָּת, no construct forms, feminine counterpart שׁוֹמֶרֶת שַׁבָּת)

1. A Jew who is observant of the mitzvot, i.e., an orthodox Jew
2. A Sabbatarian, a Jew who is observant of the Shabbat, though not necessarily in orthodox fashion
