רייַזע
Appearance
Yiddish
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Borrowed from German Reise, from Middle High German reise, reis, from Old High German reisa, from Proto-West Germanic *raisu. Possibly borrowed from German to avoid homophonic confusion with רײַז (rayz, “rice”), which morphologically would also be the theoretical inherited form from Middle High German reise.
