Etymology

[edit]

From a Slavic language. Compare Polish paskudnik and paskuda, Russian паску́дник (paskúdnik) and паскуда.

The Russian adjective паскудный translates to "foul, vile, disgusting." The Polish term paskudny is similar in meaning.

פּאַסקודניאַק is essentially this with the Russian -няк (-njak) suffix.
