- to bind, to tie limbs together, especially in the context of sacrifice

- וַיָּבֹאוּ אֶל־הַמָּקוֹם אֲשֶׁר אָמַר־לוֹ הָאֱלֹהִים וַיִּבֶן שָׁם אַבְרָהָם אֶת־הַמִּזְבֵּחַ וַיַּעֲרֹךְ אֶת־הָעֵצִים וַיַּעֲקֹד אֶת־יִצְחָק בְּנוֹ וַיָּשֶׂם אֹתוֹ עַל־הַמִּזְבֵּחַ מִמַּעַל לָעֵצִים׃
- Va-yavóu el ha-maqóm ashér amár lo ha-Elohím va-yíven sham Avrahám et ha-mizbéaḥ va-ya'arókh et ha-ʿetzím va-yaʿaqod et Yitzḥáq bno va-yásem oto ʿal ha-mizbéaḥ mi-máʿal la-ʿetzim.

- Amár Rabbi Abáhu: Lamá toqʿín ba-shofár shel áyil? Amár ha-Qadósh Barúkh Hu, taqʿú l'fanái ba-shofár shel áyil, k'déi she-ezkór lakhém ʿaqedát Yitzḥáq ben Avrahám, u-maʿalé aní ʿaleikhém k-ílu ʿaqadtém ʿatsm'khém l'fanái.
- Said Rabbi Abbahu: Why do we blast on the horn of a ram? The Holy Blessed One said, Blast before me on the horn of a ram, so that I remember for you the binding of Isaac son of Abraham, and I will merit it for you as if you bound yourseles before Me.
