     וְחָרָשׁ לֹא יִמָּצֵא בְּכֹל אֶרֶץ יִשְׂרָאֵל כִּי־אָמְרוּ פְלִשְׁתִּים פֶּן יַעֲשֹוּ הָעִבְרִים חֶרֶב אוֹ חֲנִית:

     weḥārāš lo yimmṣē beḵol ʾereṣ yisrāʾēl ki-āmru felištīm pen yaʿǎsū hāʿivrīm ḥerev ʾō ḥǎnīṯ

     Now there was no smith found throughout all the land of Israel; for the Philistines said: 'Lest the Hebrews make them swords or spears';

   • c. 400-650 CE, Vayiqra Rabba:

     אָמַר רַבִּי זְעֵירָא אֲפִלּוּ שִׂיחָתָן שֶׁל בְּנֵי אֶרֶץ יִשְׂרָאֵל תּוֹרָה, הָא כֵיצַד?

     ʾamar rabi zeʿeyra ʾafilu siḥaṯan shel beney ʾereṣ yisraʾel tora, ha ḵeyṣaḏ?

     Rabi Zeira said, "Even the conversation of the people of Eretz Yisrael is of Torah; how can this be?

   • 1170 CE, Maimonides, Mishneh Torah:

     וְרִבִּי יוֹחָנָן חִבַּר הַתַּלְמוּד הַיְּרוּשְׁלְמִי בְּאֶרֶץ יִשְׂרָאֵל אַחַר חָרְבַּן הַבַּיִת בְּקֵרוּב מִשְּׁלוֹשׁ מֵאוֹת שָׁנָה.

     veribi yoḥanan ḥibar hatalmuḏ hayerushlemi beʾereṣ yisraʾel aḥar ḥorban habayiṯ beqeruv mishlosh meʾoṯ shana

     And Rabbi Yochanan compiled the Jerusalem Talmud in Eretz Yisrael after the destruction of the Temple, near the 3rd century.
