Perhaps related to דִּין (dín, law) or from Proto-Semitic *ʾadan- (to rule, judge). Compare Ugaritic 𐎀𐎄𐎚 (ảdt, lady), Phoenician 𐤀𐤃𐤍 (ʾdn, lord), Ancient Greek Ἄδωνις (Ádōnis, mortal lover of the goddess Aphrodite)
