Old Armenian
[edit]Etymology
[edit]The origin is uncertain.
Perhaps from Proto-Indo-European *skn̥-, the zero-grade of *sken-, extended from *sek- (“to cut, cut off”) with a close formal cognate in Lithuanian skìnti.[1] If ցին (cʻin, “feces inside animal entrails; dried manure that is spread under farm animals”) is related, it would be derived regularly from the full grade *sken-.
Verb
[edit]ցանեմ • (cʻanem)
- (transitive) to strew, spread, scatter
- (transitive) to sprinkle
- (transitive) to sow
