From Proto-Turkic *ögret- (to familiarize; to teach).

Cognate with Kazakh үйрету (üiretu), Kyrgyz үйрөтүү (üyrötüü), Uzbek oʻrgatmoq, Turkmen öwretmek, Turkish öğretmek, Tuvan өөредир (ööredir), Yakut үөрэт (üöret, to teach, train), etc.

    Mərxəmət eyəhe Allah Qörʹənde öyrətte. İnsandı Ul yaralttı. Höyləşergə öyrətte.
