[edit]From Common Kypchak saw ("healthy", see the Kypchak cognates below), from Proto-Turkic *sạg (“healthy”).
Cognate with Old Uyghur [script needed] (sağ, “healthy”); Tatar сау (saw), Kazakh сау (sau), Karachay-Balkar сау (saw), Kumyk сау (sau, “healthy”); Kyrgyz соо (soo, “healthy”), Southern Altai су-кадык (su-kadïk, “healthy”) or су (su, “healthy”) , Uzbek sogʻ (“healthy”), Uyghur ساق (saq, “healthy”), Turkish sağ (“healthy”), etc.
