[edit]Inherited from Old Slovak *jašterka, from Proto-Slavic *aščerъka. By surface analysis, ящур (jaščur, “dragon”) + -ка (-ka). Cognates include dialectal Slovak jaśčurka and Carpathian Rusyn я́щурка (jáščurka).
